The Role of Deacons

The women and men elected to be deacons at City Church serve the church behind the scenes, confidentially helping our people in crisis periods of their lives. Deacons serve the social, emotional, physical, financial, and spiritual needs of the congregation. They provide financial assistance for rent, food, counseling and medical assistance, utilities, and other expenses. Much of their time is spent in prayer with and for their clients, building relationships with them, encouraging and counseling them with budget and basic life skills. People request the deacons for spiritual and practical help. Often the practical help offered is financial, made possible by your contributions to the Deacon Fund. This fund is separate from the operating budget of City Church and goes directly to assist members of the congregation who find themselves in need. An annual special offering is taken to replenish this fund near Thanksgiving, please be planning to give.
